Dutch marine company, ShibataFenderTeam (SFT), has engineered an optimised design solution with 80 fenders for the new Lekki Port in Nigeria.
Strategically located in the Lagos Free Zone, Lekki Port has planned to significantly increase the container throughput capacity of the western Nigerian port complex.
The port is slated to become one of the most modern and largest deep-water ports in West Africa.
Its optimised layout and modern facilities are expected to accommodate the world’s largest container ships, giving it a competitive edge over any other port facility in the region.

Working in close partnership with the contractor, SFT’s in-house team of engineers had performed a deep and thorough review of the project specifications.
The resulting solution was an optimised design for more efficient fenders, creating substantial savings for the client and reducing the total cost of ownership for the user, according to ShibataFenderTeam.

The order scope included also three sets of Corner V Fenders (250 x 750 + 750 millimetres) for the tug boat berth.
