ShibataFenderTeam distributes 11 Double Cone Fender Systems to Dundee Port

Dutch Marine firm, ShibataFenderTeam Group (SFT) has supplied 11 Double Cone Fender Systems for Dundee Port’s expansion project in the UK.

Forth Ports Dundee is one of the city’s primary economic engines in the east of Scotland.

Ideally located to service the North Sea Oil and Gas business, it has recently undergone considerable renovations, the most notable of which was the construction of a new quayside, which also places Dundee as a good alternative for the offshore wind farm industry.

To equip this expansion project, the SFT’s Dutch office reportedly worked in collaboration with Graham Construction to design and supply a customised solution: 11 double Cone Fender Systems each consisting of two Cone Fenders (SPC 700, G2.1) and a closed box panel with UHMW-PE pads.

The steel panels are relatively large (2×6.9 metres) due to the tidal ranges typically experienced in this area of the UK coast.

The project scope additionally includes 8 T-Head Bollards and 4 Removable T-Head Bollards, the latter fitted with an anchor structure to allow the bollards to be removed while in use.

The Port of Dundee will gain 300 metres for secure berthing operations as a result of this modernisation, as well as a new heavy lift quay capable of roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) as well as traditional loading and unloading operations.

One of SFT’s primary assets as the leading manufacturer of fender systems is our customer-oriented approach.

This is the third straight engagement with Graham Construction after the Tilbury 2 and Victoria 2 Terminal projects, which has earned us a reputation as a dependable partner.

In September, SFT teamed up with the independent consultancy company, Ramboll, to jointly develop an exclusive assessment tool that provides greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions per individual order.
