Tristar Eships, the marine logistics branch of the Dubai-based Tristar Group, has chosen Wärtsilä’s Decarbonisation Services to help reduce its carbon footprint.
Wärtsilä’s Decarbonisation Services will first be applied to two tankers in the company’s fleet and is designed to significantly reduce their carbon emissions.
Tim Coffin, CEO of Tristar Eships, said: “We are committed to finding efficient solutions to reduce our emissions footprint. Wärtsilä’s Decarbonisation Services is an important tool in helping us achieve this goal. Partnering with Wärtsilä will increase our depth of knowledge and understanding of the technologies required to raise efficiency levels, and therefore reduce emissions.”

Wärtsilä’s Decarbonisation Services reportedly include a thorough examination of a ship’s operational profile, followed by advice on how to enhance efficiency and energy savings.
The analysis for the first two Tristar Eships vessels will incorporate Wärtsilä’s EnergyFlow and EnergyProFin, optimised propellers, shaft generators, and biofuel capabilities.

Rajan Khanna, Head of Sales, Middle East – Wärtsilä Marine, said: “With increasing pressure to decarbonise, knowing which solutions and technologies will deliver the most cost-optimal route to decarbonisation today, and in the future, is important.
“Our Decarbonisation Services are an integral part of our overall decarbonisation strategy, meaning we can best support customers, like Tristar Eships, with effectively managing their carbon footprint.”
According to Wärtsilä, the two vessels that will benefit from its Decarbonisation Services are the 169-metre-long chemical tanker ‘Solar Nesrin’ and the 183-metre-long oil tanker ‘Silver Muna’.
