Wan Hai hosts ship naming ceremony for new vessels

Wan Hai Lines Ltd. has held a ship naming ceremony for WAN HAI 368 and WAN HAI 369, accompanied by a charity donation at Japan Marine United Corporation ARIAKE Shipyard.

Wan Hai and Japan Marine United Corporation have deployed the third batch of their 3,055 TEU series ships, totalling 12 vessels.

WAN HAI 368 and WAN HAI 369 are the 4th and 5th vessels in the series of 3,055 TEU. They are all built by Japan Marine United Corporation ARIAKE Shipyard.

Eri Aburajima of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and Taku Murase, Vice President Nissan Purchasing of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. named WAN HAI 368 during the ship naming ceremony.

AGC Inc.’s Yoshiko Fujita and AGC LOGISTICS CO., LTD.’s Koichi Kurita will name WAN HAI 369.

The 3,055 TEU series is reportedly designed with energy efficiency and environmental friendliness in mind. These two series are outfitted with complete balanced twisted bulb rudders and pre-swirl fins, and all ships supplied are “Smart Ship” certified.

These new vessels are part of Wan Hai Lines’ attempts to upgrade its fleet in order to offer clients with an improved service.

In addition to naming the new structures, Wan Hai Lines donated needs to two Japanese organisations, Jiaien Child Home and Kumamoto Tenshien.

In July, Wan Hai announced the completion of a 10-year NT$3 billion ($95 million) sustainability-linked shipping financing agreement with Standard Chartered Bank.

Three months later, Wan Hai hosted a combined ship naming ceremony for WAN HAI A05 and WAN HAI A06 at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Shipyard.
