cargo-partner extends green collaboration with HHLA Pure

cargo-partner has extended its partnership with the HHLA Pure programme for another year across its branches in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary.

Launched in 2023, the collaboration between cargo-partner and the HHLA Pure programme has aimed to foster climate-neutral transport chains from European ports into the hinterland.

HHLA Pure, a joint initiative by HHLA and METRANS, combines Hamburg’s status as Europe’s largest rail port with METRANS’ eco-friendly rail transport solutions. The programme uses a range of eco-friendly measures, including electrified processes, modern hybrid and electric locomotives, and CO2-optimised trains and wagons by METRANS. All unavoidable CO2 emissions are offset through certified development projects meeting Gold standards.

“At cargo-partner, we are committed to minimising our carbon footprint and contributing to environmental sustainability,” said Luca Ferrara, CEO of cargo-partner.

“Our continued collaboration with the HHLA Pure programme reflects our ongoing efforts to offer innovative, eco-friendly solutions to our customers while making a positive impact on the environment.”

In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, cargo-partner’s collaboration with METRANS in 2023 has reportedly facilitated climate-neutral transports on the routes to and from Hamburg, Bremerhaven, and Koper.

The company’s Czech branch handled transports amounting to 3,650 TEU through the HHLA Pure programme in the past year, while cargo-partner in Slovakia successfully transported 3,181 TEU in a climate-neutral manner.

With the extension of the cooperation with HHLA Pure for another year, cargo-partner’s branches in the Czech Republic and Slovakia have now expanded the programme’s reach to additional ports, including Gdańsk, Wilhelmshaven, Rotterdam, Trieste, and Rijeka.

The first electric truck arrived at cargo-partner’s warehouse in Hungary in May 2023, and the company continues to offer deliveries by electric vehicles as an additional service. In the past year, cargo-partner Hungary handled a total of 6,054 TEU from and to Budapest through the environment-friendly programme.

Last month, cargo-partner launched new intermodal rail transport solutions linking Europe to China and other countries in Asia.
