YILPORT Gemlik welcomes largest vessel ever in the region

YILPORT Gemlik serves Yang Ming's 14,000 TEU vessel

The largest terminal in the Marmara Region, YILPORT Gemlik, has welcomed the Yang Ming company-chartered YM Witness Vessel.

With a length of 368 metres and a breadth of 51 metres, the YM Witness was the biggest container ship to arrive in the Gulf of Gemlik region, carrying 14,080 TEU.

YM Witness Vessel is a part of MD3 – Asia – Mediterranean service, with ports of call:

Pusan-Ningbo-Shanghai-Shekou-Singapore-Ashdod-İstanbul-İzmit-Aliaga-Mersin-Damietta
-Singapore-Kaohsiung-Pusanym

Remzi Cem GÖKTAŞ, YILPORT Türkiye Region General Manager, said: “We are happy to host YM Witness at our Gemlik terminal and proud to conduct operations with our state-of-the-art six of our eight STS cranes at our 1,000 metres of linear berth. The terminal conducted handling operations of 1,263 containers in total.

“We are proud to provide service with our experienced operations team with a long-term know-how. The arrival of the YM Witness vessel marks an exciting new era in regional logistics for Gemlik and Bursa to have the opportunity of direct Far East routes.

“The businesses in Gemlik and Bursa to receive direct service to and from their base locations will provide tremendous opportunities and contribute to the development of the hinterland.

“Our operational terminal is set to receive and serve new routes, offering ultimate solution. We use all endeavors to provide smoother, more efficient logistics operations with lower transit costs and optimum timing.”

Recently, Yang Ming reported Q1 consolidated revenues of NT$43.8 billion ($1.39 billion).
