Wan Hai Lines Ltd. has hosted a ship naming ceremony for Wan Hai A15, which was followed by a charity event at Samsung Heavy Industries’ Geoje shipyard.
On 29 March, S.A. Choi, Vice Chairman & CEO of Samsung Heavy Industries, and Tommy Hsieh, President of Wan Hai Lines, officiated the event.
Hung Mei Hui carried out the christening procedures, giving blessings on the vessel for good fortune and safe travel.
Following the event, Wan Hai A15 was reportedly delivered at Geoje shipyard and sent to Shanghai Port to join Wan Hai Lines’ Asia-East Coast of North America service ‘AA7’.

Wan Hai A15 is the eighth of the 13,100 TEU series containerships contracted between Wan Hai Lines and Samsung Heavy Industries.
According to Wan Hai, these containerships have a total length of 335 metres, a width of 51 metres, a draft of 16 metres, and a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots.
With the successive delivery of 13,100 TEU series vessels, Wan Hai Lines’ own fleet intends to become more competitive and contribute to the company’s long-haul operations and development.
In January, Wan Hai held a ship naming ceremony for the Wan Hai A13 at Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard.
