Schedule reliability continues to decline

Global schedule reliability has declined by 2.5 month-over-month (MoM) in November 2023 to 61.9 per cent.

According to Sea-Intelligence’s issue 148 of the Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, on a year-over-year (YoY) level, however, schedule reliability was 5.4 percentage points higher.

The average delay for LATE vessel arrivals continues to creep up, increasing by 0.10 days MoM to 5.02 days.

With the MoM decrease, the average delay for LATE vessel arrivals is now on a similar trajectory to what we saw during the same time-period in 2020.

Sea-Intelligence noted that Evergreen was the most reliable carrier in the top 13 in November 2023, with 70.0 per cent schedule dependability, followed by Wan Hai with 68.1 per cent.

Six carriers, including Wan Hai, had schedule reliability of 60 per cent to 70 per cent, while the remaining six carriers had schedule reliability of 50 per cent to 60 per cent.

With a schedule reliability of 52.3 per cent, ZIM was the least reliable carrier. In November 2023, six of the top 13 carriers reported a MoM rise, with Evergreen reporting the highest gain of 5.7 percentage points.

Five of the 13 carriers recorded double-digit YoY improvements, with Evergreen recording the largest improvement of 17.4 percentage points.

According to Sea-Intelligence, global schedule dependability maintained at 63.4 per cent in July 2023, after falling for the first time in June 2023.

In August 2023, global schedule reliability declined by 0.9 month-over-month (MoM) to 63.2 per cent.
