The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has achieved an increase in the number of containers handled by 16.85 per cent to reach 737,530 TEU in November, compared to 631,160 TEU in the same month of 2022.
The number of exported containers last month increased by 15.95 per cent to reach 212,216 TEU, compared to 183,024 TEU in the same period of the previous year, and the number of incoming containers increased by 18.67 per cent to reach 224,324 TEU, compared to 189,029 TEU, in the corresponding month of 2022.

In addition, transshipment containers recorded an increase of 16.16 per cent to reach 300,990 TEU compared to 259,108 TEU in November 2022, which reportedly increases the competitiveness of General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA)’s port services.
According to MAWANI, the volumes of general cargo amounted to 891,980 tonnes, solid bulk cargo 3.4 million tonnes, liquid bulk cargo 11.2 tonnes, while ports recorded a discharge rate of 754,124 cattle, an increase of 159 per cent, compared to 291,169 cattle in the same period of 2022.
In August, MAWANI announced that its ports achieved an increase in the number of handling containers.
A month later, MAWANI announced that it handled a container volume of 732,293 TEU across its trade hubs.
