Containership stranded in Dutch waters

Containership CMA CGM Barracuda has ran aground in front of Kruiningen, Netherlands while en route from Antwerp to Hamburg.

The incident occurred on 13 January at approximately 1:00 am local time as the 5,000 TEU ship was proceeding downstream towards the sea.

As of 5:00 am, the ship was under way and being escorted by a number of tugs as it continued to proceed downstream.

The boxship was eventually refloated a few hours later.

The cause of the grounding is still under investigation.

CMA CGM-owned CEVA Logistics recently announced the launch of a dedicated Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) organisation as part of its acquisition and integration of GEFCO.

This move comes just a few months after CEVA, one of the largest logistics companies in France and a global leader in supply chain solutions, purchased the French automotive logistics specialist in July 2022.
