CMA CGM-owned CEVA Logistics has announced the launch of a dedicated Finished Vehicle Logistics (FVL) organisation as part of its acquisition and integration of GEFCO.
This move comes just a few months after CEVA, one of the largest logistics companies in France and a global leader in supply chain solutions, purchased the French automotive logistics specialist in July 2022.
By integrating GEFCO, CEVA Logistics becomes the largest France-based logistics company, offering a full range of services from contract logistics to air, ocean, ground and finished vehicle transport.
With the acquisition, CEVA Logistics plans to replace the GEFCO brand worldwide by 2023 and integrate the remaining business, mostly in contract logistics and ground transportation, into its existing operations.

“Our promise of Responsive Logistics requires high levels of industry know-how, so we are growing in both scale and expertise to co-create value with our customers,” said Mathieu Friedberg, CEO, CEVA Logistics.
“With our new CEVA colleagues who came from GEFCO, we are able to offer extensive global capabilities to a wide range of industries, including the automotive industry. Backed by the CMA CGM Group, we expect our growth to continue as we target becoming a Top 3 global third-party logistics.”
The new product organisation will be under the director of former GEFCO COO Emmanuel Cheremetinski.
As the global product leader for finished vehicle logistics, Cheremetinski will lead a global team of approximately 4,000 employees.
In December 2022, the CMA CGM Group signed an agreement to acquire Bayonne and New York terminals currently held by Global Container Terminals Inc. (GCT).
Through this major acquisition, CMA CGM Group aims to support US East Coast supply chain growth and expand its footprint in the US market, according to its recent statement.
