APM Terminals Barcelona and Valencia have joined the Portchain Connect Network, gaining access to a global berth alignment platform used by over 150 terminals.
Through secure digital data sharing, both terminals can now offer carriers earlier, more reliable schedule updates and a unified channel for berth coordination.
For terminal teams, Portchain Connect streamlines communication, improves berth planning accuracy, and boosts utilisation.
For carriers, faster alignment enables Just-in-Time (JIT) port calls — reducing waiting times by up to two hours per call and cutting fuel use by up to 10 per cent, along with associated CO2 emissions.

The result is smoother operations for our teams, higher berth efficiency, and a more predictable, sustainable supply chain for shipping lines.”
Thor Thorup, CCO & Co-Founder at Portchain, stated: “Bringing APM Terminals Barcelona and Valencia onto Portchain Connect strengthens our Network in two crucial Mediterranean hubs. Together, we’re improving berth efficiency and cutting emissions for the carriers that call these terminals.”
