Porto Itapoá has joined Portchain Connect, a digital platform designed to enhance the speed and accuracy of berth alignment between ports and shipping lines.
The move comes as the Brazilian terminal embarks on a major expansion project, including the widening and deepening of its access channel to accommodate vessels up to 366 metres in length and significantly increase its container handling capacity.
By joining the Portchain Connect Network, Porto Itapoá aims to improve communication with its shipping line customers through real-time schedule updates and secure data sharing.
The platform enables terminals and carriers to digitally exchange key operational information, helping to reduce the reliance on manual processes and enabling faster responses to schedule changes.

Sergni Pessoa Rosa Jr., Operations, Technology and Environment Director at Porto Itapoá, said: “Joining Portchain Connect has enhanced our operational effectiveness and provided an easy-to-use digital platform for data exchange, improving the quality and timeliness of information.”
Portchain Connect allows users to view and manage all vessel calls in one place, while supporting the secure transfer of berthing data. According to Portchain, this leads to shorter alignment times, reduced delays in communication, and improved schedule reliability.
Thor Thorup, CCO and Co-Founder at Portchain, commented: “Delighted to announce Porto Itapoá’s onboarding onto Portchain Connect. Our collaboration aims to enhance operational efficiencies in key aspects of port operations, setting a positive trajectory for the shipping industry digitisation.”
