Wan Hai Lines has opened a new office in Kolkata, India to improve service quality and build a stronger footing in the Indian subcontinent.
On 27 July, the new office held a grand opening reception. The Kolkata Port Authority, Kolkata terminal operators, feeder operators and important local customers were invited to send representatives to attend the meeting to express their blessings to Wan Hai’s opening of the Kolkata market.
Wan Hai currently has six owned offices in India, including Mumbai, Chennai, Mundra, and Vizag, Delhi, and the sixth office in Kolkata.
In addition to offering direct river port services, the new office is slated to increase service ties between India and neighbouring nations such as Nepal and Bhutan.

According to the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s 2023 Foreign Trade Policy, India’s export trade volume would exceed $2 trillion by 2030.
As a result of government policy incentives and the shifting trend of the global supply chain, India’s place in global manufacturing and international commerce is improving, which is favourable to long-term high economic growth.

Furthermore, the share of worldwide exports has grown dramatically. The ongoing economic stimulus strategy aims to aid in the revitalisation of the home economy, and domestic demand is likely to rise dramatically.
As a result, Wan Hai is upbeat about India’s future import and export position. In addition, the development of a new office will increase overall operational efficiency.
In July of this year, Wan Hai Lines announced the completion of a 10-year NT$3 billion ($95 million) sustainability-linked shipping financing agreement with Standard Chartered Bank.
