Ahead of the highly anticipated “Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2023” event, we’ve had the privilege of conducting a Q&A with the event’s representatives to delve deeper into what this year’s edition holds in store. Learn about the exciting insights, trends, and opportunities that industry professionals and experts will bring to the forefront during Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2023.
What are the key highlights and objectives of the 5th edition of Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2023 event?
One of the objectives of the “Smart Ports: Piers of the Future 2023” event may be to facilitate connections between startups in the maritime and port industries. This could involve providing a platform for startups to showcase their innovative solutions, fostering networking opportunities with established industry players and encouraging collaboration and partnerships to drive innovation and growth within the smart port ecosystem. The presence of startups in the maritime world is important for the eight ports (Antwerp-Bruges, Barcelona, Busan, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Los Angeles, Montreal & Rotterdam) due to their ability to drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
We have also extended our invitation to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the Tanger Med Port Authority, and the Port Authority of New South Wales to join us at the Smart Ports 2023 event. The main objective is to encourage knowledge exchange on the implementation of smart technologies, such as automation and digitalization, to enhance the efficiency of port operations.
We want to exchange knowledge between startups and ports so that we can find solutions and the best place to do it is to be part of events like the Smart City Expo World Congress. In addition, the inclusion of the “Tomorrow.Blue Economy” as a new track in the Smart City Expo World Congress can be a significant development. This expansion reflects the growing importance of sustainable practices in the maritime and port industries, aligning with global efforts to promote environmental responsibility and resource conservation. This addition can provide a platform for discussing innovative solutions, technologies, and strategies aimed at promoting a sustainable and environmentally friendly blue economy.
It also underscores the interconnectedness of smart cities and smart ports in creating a more sustainable and efficient future.
This edition features an “Innovation Zone” within the Smart Ports and Tomorrow. Blue Economy booths, comprising eight exhibition pods for emerging companies and innovation centers aligned with each port’s ecosystem.
Here we will also have the Tech Tour Blue Economy event on 7-8 November, this will be a pitch elevator where the smart ports’s members have been involved as juries in the panel selection. More than ninety-five startups summited, thirty have been chosen to showcase their innovative projects in front of investors, industry experts, and mentors.
All this will happen at the Hall 2 Tomorrow.BlueEconomy Plaza.
