Port Technology is very proud to unveil the updated agenda for the Container Terminal Automation Conference 2019 (#CTAC19), due to be held between 6-8 May in London.
CTAC19 will explore some of the most fascinating and important trends and topics currently facing the maritime industry, including Machine Learning (ML), 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and, of course, automation.
To do so, it will bring together some of the industry’s greatest minds in a series of thought-provoking talks and panel discussions, where container terminal automation’s past, present and future challenges will be discussed and debated.

CTAC19’s first day rounds off with sessions dedicated to the potential and benefits of Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, as well as ‘Automation Ports 4.0: Driving Efficiency & Densification’, which will explore the key business drivers and long term investment opportunities offered by automation.
Day 2 – May 8 – looks at the concept of retrofitting existing terminals, which some suggest could secure the gains of automation while saving on costs, in its first session ‘Automating Existing Terminals.’
Following that are sessions dedicated to the 5G and how it can enable the use of robotics, cloud technology and big data, and maximizing key performance indicators.
The major keynote of Day 2 comes from INFORM’s Dr Eva Savelsberg and Matthew Wittemeier, who will unveil ‘2038: A Smart Port Story Part 2’, the eagerly awaited sci-fi sequel to the first novella which was released at the Smart Ports and Supply Chains Conference in October 2018.

AI will be the focus of the following session, to be moderated by Wolfgang Lehmacher, which will examine the next stage of human-machine collaboration and see how it is driving innovation in controlled terminal operation systems.
At the end of it all, CTAC19 will conclude with a final panel discussion titled ‘Delivering Performance: Driving Optimization’, to be moderated by Guenter Schmidmeier, Senior Vice President, Kalmar.
Here all the advancements in data analytics will be discussed and how container terminals can adapt and prosper into the future.
