iTerminals 4.0, a research, development, and innovation (R&D&I) project promoted by Prodevelop, has received the award in the Innovation category of the Waterborne Days.
This is an interactive conference co-organised with the support of the European Commission that has managed to bring together the European community of transport by inland waterways.
Prodevelop has played a key role in the development of this product, acting as leader of the set of pilot activities.
The iTerminals 4.0 project focuses on the research and implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies in container loading and unloading operations in European ports.
The initiative will generate a wide range of comprehensive advantages by digitalising port operations, including a significant increase in operational efficiency, substantial improvements in security and cybersecurity, reduced operating costs, and a notable decrease in the sector’s carbon footprint.
The aim of this conference was to highlight the success of research projects co-financed by the European Union and celebrate their contribution to the future of the European inland waterway transport sector.

“We are proud to lead the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies in the ports & terminals sector, and we strongly believe in the potential of this initiative to revolutionise operations, promote sustainability and contribute to the future of European inland waterway transport,” Montesinos added.
Earlier in March 2023, Prodevelop launched the open call project entitled WATERPORTS which aims to support environmental managers of port authorities in their daily coastal water quality environmental monitoring tasks.
More recently, Prodevelop received the Amazon Web Service (AWS) Foundational Technical Review (FTR) certification for its Posidonia Port Community System (PCS).
