Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has renewed its contract with Kalmar, part of Cargotec, by ordering new container-handling equipment as part of a fleet renewal programme in five terminal locations across South Africa.

Five Kalmar DRT450 reachstackers and two DCT90 empty container handlers will join MSC, the second largest global container shipping company, in Q4 2017 to Q2 2018 for processing laden and empty containers at the terminals.

MSC has a network of over 480 offices in 155 countries and a fleet of 490 container vessels.

As well as sea freight, the company offers integrated warehousing and haulage services.

Leslie Bramraj Venketas, Sales Manager at Kalmar South Africa, said: “MSC has been an important partner of ours for a number of years, so we are delighted to strengthen our relationship by supporting them with their fleet renewal programme.”
