Maersk has confirmed that one of its ships was detained in the Port of Sfax in Tunisia on September 10 due to an insurance dispute, and insisted it will comply with local authorities to resolve the matter.
The detention of the Alexander Maersk started when Sfax arrived at 06:41 am local time on September 9 from Malta Freeport.
In a statement, Maersk said: “This is related to different claims cases which we are looking into and have informed our insurance company about.
“We cooperate with all relevant authorities to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.”
Maersk is yet to respond to PTI’s request to comment.
