Huawei to Launch Singapore AI Lab

Huawei Cloud has announced the launch of a Cloud & AI Innovation Lab in Singapore, which will cultivate local AI talents and accelerate technological innovation.

The project, which was announced at Huawei Cloud Summit 2019, also aligns with Singapore's Smart Nation initiatives, an effort to bridge Singapore with AI technologies currently in development around the world.

According to a statement, the lab will offer powerful AI services and resources, including AI R&D robots, Traffic Intelligent Twins, and AI development kits.

In addition to this, the opening of the innovation hub will further collaboration between Huawei and local institutions, including universities and enterprises carrying out research in this area.

Edward Deng, President of Huawei Cloud Global Market, commented: “Singapore is an international center of innovation, but also a strategical hub for China-funded and overseas enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Huawei Cloud provides industry-leading full-stack intelligent cloud services to bring together government, universities, enterprises, and partners to innovate, and to help accelerate their intelligent transformation.”

During the summit, the communications leader also signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with multiple companies to deepen cooperation on cloud computing and AI in the Asia-Pacific market.

Nicholas Ma, CEO of Huawei International, said: “We have always stood alongside Singapore and its development, placing customers at the core, devoting ourselves to building telecom infrastructure, pushing enterprise digitalization, and providing outstanding technology and products to consumers.

“Huawei will continue to invest in Singapore and participate in the Services 4.0 innovation to strive for the Smart Nation goal.

“To do this, we will be providing cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and Cloud & AI, and encouraging more talents to engage in AI development, innovative thinking, and revolutions in tech.”
