Hapag-Lloyd announces GRI from India to Latin America

German shipping line Hapag-Lloyd has announced a new general rate increase (GRI) from India to West Coast Latin America, Central America, Caribbean and Mexico.

The new GRI is applicable for 20′ and 40′ dry containers from 22 January until further notice.

According to Hapag-Lloyd, the details for this increase are the following:

  • 20′ Dry Container: $500
  • 40′ Dry Container: $500
  • 40′ High Cube Container: $500

West Coast Latin America, Central America, Caribbean and Mexico covers the following countries: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela

In December 2023, Hapag Lloyd announced it had been exploring the issue of wind-assisted ship propulsion and how it could be realised in technical terms by broadening its scope of study on the matter.

More recently, Hapag-Lloyd announced that Lars Sorensen will become Senior Managing Director Region Middle East based in Dubai, AE.
