Hapag-Lloyd announces new Senior Managing Director for Middle East

Hapag-Lloyd has announced that Lars Sorensen will become Senior Managing Director Region Middle East based in Dubai, AE.

His position will begin from 1 January 2024.

He will be succeeding Dheeraj Bhatia, who will become a new member of the Hapag-Lloyd Executive Board and CEO of the new Rotterdam-based Hapag-Lloyd Terminal Holding from 1 January 2024.

“Sorensen joined Hapag-Lloyd five years ago and successfully led Area India as Managing Director, where he has proven his dedication, passion, and exceptional managerial skills, making him a natural fit for his new endeavour,” remarked Hapag-Lloyd in a statement.

In November 2023, Hapag-Lloyd announced the upcoming launch of the Hapag-Lloyd Technology Center (HLTC) in Chennai, India.

More recently, Hapag Lloyd announced it had been exploring the issue of wind-assisted ship propulsion and how it could be realised in technical terms by broadening its scope of study on the matter.
