Hapag-Lloyd, Ankeri Solutions ink decarbonisation deal

Hapag-Lloyd has entered into a transformative contract agreement with Ankeri Solutions to provide an array of tools that aim to simplify and accelerate the decarbonisation process for its fleet.

Ankeri’s technology has been in use since 2018 and enables Hapag-Lloyd to assess, optimise, and monitor various aspects of its fleet’s energy efficiency, contributing to the reduction of GHG emissions.

The collaboration aims to deliver tangible results in reducing emissions and fostering a more sustainable approach to global shipping operations, according to Ankeri.

Arne Maibohm, Hapag-Lloyd’s Director of Decarbonisation, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, having stated: “We are thrilled to join forces with Ankeri on our decarbonisation journey.

“This collaboration marks a significant step in our continuous efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet and is in line with our goal to become net-zero carbon by 2045. By integrating Ankeri’s state-of-the-art digital tools, we aim to contribute meaningfully to more sustainable shipping operations.”

Ankeri Solutions’ CEO, Kristinn Aspelund echoed this sentiment, having added: “We are proud to support Hapag-Lloyd in their commitment to sustainability.

“Our innovative software solutions are tailored to empower shipping companies to leverage their data in their journey towards decarbonisation. We look forward to working closely with Hapag-Lloyd and contributing to their success in achieving their ambitious environmental goals.”

Earlier this year, Hapag-Lloyd signed an agreement under which it acquired 100 per cent of the share capital of UK-based ATL Haulage Contractors Ltd (ATL).

More recently, the German carrier announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) / General Rate Adjustment (GRA) from India and Pakistan to the US (East Coast, West Coast & Gulf Coast) and Canada West Coast.
