Folk Maritime has launched a new direct feeder route, linking Port Sudan to ports in Jeddah.
Starting from April, Folk Maritime will reportedly provide direct general feeder services between Port Sudan and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
As the gateway for 90 per cent of Sudan’s international trade, Folk Maritime believes that the Port Sudan will benefit from these direct shuttle services from Saudi Arabia’s first independent feeder and short sea shipping provider.
The new weekly shuttle will have a robust capacity of 700 TEU, connecting Port Sudan and Jeddah, two critical marine centres in the Red Sea route.
The service is intended to offer direct transshipment possibilities and expand customer access to Port Sudan’s feeder port, which is generally unavailable to bigger commercial vessels.

This route announcement represents another milestone for Folk Maritime, which began as Saudi Arabia’s first independent feeder operator in February 2024.
