Konecranes, a provider of smart port solutions, has strengthened its relationship with major terminal operator EUROGATE Group by agreeing to supply 17 of its Konecranes Noell straddle carriers.
The order for the equipment, which will be implemented at EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg, follows a delivery in 2018 of 43 straddle carriers to EUROGATE Container Terminal Hamburg and Bremerhaven and MSC Gate Bremerhaven.
According to a statement, the working partnership between Konecranes and EUROGATE was first established 50 years ago, when the containerization of maritime trade was in its infancy.

Around 250 straddle carrier units from Konecranes are already in operation at various EUROGATE terminals in Northern Germany, a number that is set to grow when the next machines begin arriving in July 2019.
With a lifting capacity of 50 tons and a maximum travelling speed of 24 kilometres per hour, the straddle carriers are expected to support the continued efficiency and development of the Hamburg terminal.
