CTAC Europe 2024: What to expect

As our Container Terminal Automation Conference (CTAC) is soon approaching, Port Technology International (PTI) is excited to introduce the event’s speakers and sessions.

After seven successful years, CTAC will be hosting its eighth European edition in Valencia, Spain.

CTAC Europe will be held from 17 – 18 April 2024, in the 5-star Las Arenas Balneario Resort, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and the waterfront.

Several sessions will be held over two days, giving attendees the chance to hear from recognised experts in the maritime industry.

On 17 April, the day will mainly be centred around the topic of automation, touching on its progression and effectiveness in ports and terminals.

On the same day, the ‘Selective Automation’ session will be held, highlighting how this method allows terminals to automate specific processes according to the actual needs and context of their operations, without incurring the costs and risks associated with comprehensive automation.

The speakers for the ‘Selective Automation’ session include:

  • Yvo Saanen, Managing Director at Portwise
  • Anton Bernaerd, Business Development Director at Camco Technologies
  • Ashish Panda, Product Manager (Automation) at Navis
  • Martin Tremblay, Executive Director of Information Technology at Montreal Gateway Terminals
  • Stephan Piworus, Vice President Europe at Atai

On 18 April, discussions will focus on digitalisation, notably the exploration of data and analytics, as well as the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) at ports and terminals.

Day two will feature the ‘Automation & AI: The Future of Work In Control Rooms’ session, which will highlight the introduction of automation and AI at container terminals and discuss various points of view from terminal operators who are altering their organisations with the predicted progression with AI.

Speakers for this session include:
