Boluda orders four Konecranes hybrid RTGs

Boluda Maritime Terminals Tenerife (Boluda) has placed an order for four hybrid Konecranes Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes equipped with several Smart Features.

The company opted for hybrid Konecranes RTGs after reviewing fuel consumption calculations and comparisons that demonstrated the fuel efficiency and eco-efficiency of Konecranes hybrid drives.

The contract was signed in December 2024.

The four new cranes will join two other Konecranes RTGs. The new cranes will come with smart features including Auto-Steering, Auto-TOS Positioning, Auto-Positioning, Stack Collision Prevention and Truck Lift Prevention.

“Konecranes hybrid drive technology provides the perfect balance of performance and environmental responsibility,” said Gonzalo Calero Gómez, CEO of Boluda Maritime Terminals.

“The Smart Features also contribute to more efficient container handling and enhanced safety.”

Last week, BGT, an ICTSI facility at the Port of Umm Qasr, Iraq, received a new Konecranes Gottwald ESP.8 mobile harbour crane.
