Wan Hai Lines has obtained 2,000 tonnes of carbon credits certified by the international accreditation unit Gold Standard.
The company offers carbon offset for its Japan-Taiwan route segment, inviting customers to join in environmental conservation efforts.
Wan Hai’s subscription to carbon credits for Africa’s well project and India’s renewable energy is consistent with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, cheap and clean energy, and climate action.
Wan Hai has selected its flagship route, the JTS Service from Japan to Taiwan, for voluntary carbon offsetting from 27 February to 12 March.

This initiative attempts to develop a carbon-offset route service for Wan Hai’s long-term supporters. The route is reportedly outfitted with the most recent high-efficiency smart vessels and a variety of energy-saving gadgets, which improve fuel economy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions through data tracking and analysis.

With a commitment to the 2050 net-zero target, Wan Hai focuses on fleet renewal, investment in energy-efficient engines and equipment, and enhancing fuel efficiency while reducing carbon dioxide emissions through close monitoring and data analysis.
