UASC has been recognised for its commitment to the environment and its eco-efficient fleet, receiving the ‘Green Shipping Award’ at yesterday’s Maritime Standard Awards 2015 for the Middle East and Indian subcontinent ceremony.
In early October, UASC received the ‘Environmental Sustainability Award’ from SeaTrade. The outstanding environmental credentials of UASC’s newbuilds are firmly demonstrated through their performance as the CO2-output per TEU of the 18,800 TEU vessels is 60% lower than a 13,500 TEU vessel delivered just three to four years ago.
Furthermore, the company being ranked among the best performing carriers on CO2 emissions in a recent progress report by Business for Social Responsibility’s Clean Cargo Working Group is further proof that environmental performance is at the heart of UASC’s operations.
In addition to the recognition in the environmental front, UASC also received the ‘Ship Owner/Operator of the Year’ and ‘Shipping Company of the Year’ awards from Maritime Standard and SeaTrade awards respectively.
UASC’s smart expansion strategy and customer-focused approach, including the recent global cooperation agreements with other leading shipping companies, played a large part in UASC receiving these awards.
