Tsubaki Kabelschlepp releases heavy-duty cable carriers

Tsubaki Kabelschlepp has introduced its heavy-duty cable carriers in the TKHD-R series for environments and long travel lengths.

The TKHD-R series from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp offers the right cable carriers for rough working conditions and extended travel lengths.

The heavy-duty cable carriers are highly robust and durable and require only minimum maintenance, according to Tsubaki.

With these properties, the flexible all-round talents have not only become staples for ship-to-shore (STS) cranes, but have also proven ideal in applications such as coal loading systems and bulk materials handling as reported by the company.

The smaller variant TKHD-R with 58 millimetres inner height serves as an alternative to the larger TKHD90-R when there is less space available and the cables and hoses take up less room.

The 85 or 90 millimetres pitch and the polygon-optimised outer contour reportedly ensure quiet running of the cable carriers.

Due to the easy installation, very long travel lengths can be implemented with the TKHD-R series – gliding or unsupported, as a new system or as a retrofit.

The R in the type designation stands for the rollers integrated into the cable carrier. These not only prevent undesired lengthening due to the long travel length, but also improve energy efficiency.

Compared to a gliding cable carrier, the rolling versions from Tsubaki Kabelschlepp require 90 per cent less force and consequently save drive power and energy, said the company.

The installed stainless steel ball bearings minimise wear on the cable carrier, and ensure maintenance-free use, while it runs quietly and with low vibrations even at high travel speeds.

In April 2021, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp released its latest innovative cable carrier system, the Cleanveyor, which it said achieved cleanliness levels through minimal abrasion.
