According to Sohar Port, the alliance aligns with the Government of Oman’s ambitious goal of achieving ‘2050 Net Zero Commitment’ and will work towards securing ample volume of alternative energy, green power, green hydrogen, and the establishment of a third-party Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) facility and services at the Sohar Port and Freezone.

The Alliance is also expected to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise to ensure a unified voice in discussions with the government.

In May 2023, A. P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has inaugurated a new corporate office at Sohar Freezone in Oman.
