The Smart Digital Ports of the Future Conference (#SDP19), to be held between 4-6 November 2019, will bring together some of the finest minds on the biggest topics affecting port digitalization and the wider supply chain, and in preparation, we have opened up the floor to give you the chance to put a question to one of the many experts and executives that will be attending.

If you would to ask a question to one of our leading industry experts, please email Port Technology’s Senior Editorial Consultant Richard Joy at rjoy@porttechnology.org.

The best of the questions received will be asked by the moderator of the relevant session and then followed up on Port Technology’s news platform once SDP19 has concluded.

In order to inspire your questions, SDP19 will cover a host of new areas, as well as readdress some recurring ones, as it looks to answer the industry’s major themes.

These questions include:

  • Port digitalization
  • Intelligent transport solutions and technologies
  • The real value of smart data

These are just three of the huge themes that will be discussed and debated at SDP19 by our panels of experts which include the likes of DP World, the Port of Rotterdam, the Port of Valencia, PSA, the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, the Port of Los Angeles and many more.

SDP19 will continue by pondering many of the maritime industry’s other big questions and examine specific case studies as they do.

This will include the broader themes, such as the so-called ‘Amazon Effect’ and what it means for smart ports and to what extent can the end-to-end supply chain be connected in a way that ensures visibility and security.

CONFERENCE EDITION: Smart Digital Ports

It will also look into more specific questions, such as how big data can be turned ‘smart’ and which of the many exponential technologies available – blockchain, machine learning, artificial intelligence, digital twins – has had the biggest impact on operations.

Day 2 will continue in much the same vein and look at some of the most exciting technologies in the cargo transportation sector – Hyperloop, for example – and ask if they are truly economically viable as well as if they could potentially revolutionize world trade.

There will also be the concept of smart port cities; covering what they are, how they interact with ports and how they help move trade from the ship to the hinterland.

Finally, there will be the issue of data and data exchange, with the perennial question: how can ports and supply chain stakeholders exchange data and how can we all create an environment of innovation and collaboration?

These are just a handful of the catalog of questions that will spring up from SDP19 and you have the chance to put one of our leading experts on the spot.

To do so, email Richard Joy at rjoy@porttechnology.org.
