Bahri, the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia, has unveiled a new container service which links the Port of Tilbury, UK to the Middle East, providing a new option for transporting heavy roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) cargo, as well as project and containerised cargoes between UK, Northern Europe and the Gulf region, according to Saudi Gazette.

In a previous PTI article, Forth Ports confirmed an agreement to acquire 61ha of land toward the east of the Port of Tilbury in Essex, UK for an undisclosed multimillion dollar price.

Technical Paper: The Productivity Quantum Leap

Trevor Kay, Bahri Service Line Manager at DKT Allseas, said: “Thanks to the extreme flexibility of these vessels and the service, we have the benefit of not being limited to any single target sector of the market.

“However, a major focus is big project cargoes, which can be handled by the on-board cranes and via RoRo. The unique factor is that shippers now have the benefit of a direct call into the UK, instead of having to tranship to Antwerp.”
