PSA-KAI MOU signing

PSA Indonesia (PSA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) to jointly collaborate on enhancing the rail and rail-linked logistics ecosystem in Indonesia.

The MoU seeks to encourage both parties’ efforts to promote connectivity and establish an efficient multimodal transportation network in Indonesia.

PSA and KAI will also work on joint feasibility studies to develop partnership strategies and look into potential co-investment in Indonesian rail-linked infrastructure, whether new or existing.

This includes collaborative management and operations in industries including global logistics, railway-based container terminals, and multimodal Door-to-Door (D2D) integrated freight transportation.

The collaboration aims to capitalise on synergies and their combined expertise, including PSA’s global presence and experience in rail-linked projects, and KAI’s established and extensive rail network in Indonesia.

PSA and KAI also aim to cultivate talent through cross-cultural training and exchange programmes in order to improve knowledge sharing and value creation.

The MoU was signed by Ong Kim Pong, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, PSA International, and Didiek Hartantyo, President Director of KAI, at the Jakarta Railways Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 25 August.

“As an integrated global logistics enabler, PSA is committed to work alongside like-minded partners to better service our customers in the region and accentuate the creation of an efficient and sustainable logistics network.”

Didiek stated: “This exciting collaboration with PSA will unite our shared expertise within the realm of logistics.

“The utilisation of rail transport stands as a testament to our commitment to enhance transportation efficiency while remaining steadfast in our eco-friendly initiatives.

“Our joint efforts will give rise to a comprehensive logistics ecosystem, seamlessly amalgamating our domestic networks with global connectivity. Through this partnership, we are dedicated to establishing a robust distribution system aimed at reducing national logistics costs.”

In August 2023, PSA Singapore won two accolades for its Prime Mover (PM) Telematics programme, which employs technology to improve safety.
