The Port of Oakland has appointed Carolyn Almquist as its new Maritime Marketing Manager.
Almquist brings with her a wealth of private sector experience in international trade. She joins the port after 25 years at American President Lines (APL), a unit of the CMA CGM Group.

She advanced through the ranks to executive leadership positions, including Head of Cargo Flow (Americas). Her experience includes managing complicated global logistics in fast-changing domestic and foreign contexts.
Port of Oakland Maritime Director, Bryan Brandes, said: “We are fortunate to have Carolyn Almquist join our maritime team. Her appointment is essential to our comprehensive strategy to reach new overseas markets.”

The port noted that Almquist’s experience utilising overseas market possibilities and crafting strategic market plans will help it achieve its aim of expanding its maritime business portfolio.
As Senior Director of Transpacific Export Trade, Almquist assisted APL in capturing the top ocean carrier market share in US West Coast ports.
In September 2023, the Board appointed two new commissioners, Jahmese Myres and Stephanie Dominguez Walton.
