Fender manufacturer ShibataFenderTeam (SFT) has supplied the Port of Marseille Fos with a new fender system and bollards for an infrastructure project to extend its container quay in Fos Rotule.

As part of the project, SFT supplied the port with 19 sets of SPC 1000 double cone fender systems with a steel panel design measuring 4,700 mm x 2,000 mm, alongside 14 sets of cast steel bibloc bollards with a capacity of 150 tons and five steel ladders.

These were delivered while Soletanche Bachy performed the extension of the quay, combining the two already existing quays into one larger container berth. Operations at the both quays continued while construction was ongoing.

The order was initially received in July 2018 with SFT delivering the system in three partial deliveries by June 2019. The successful project was delivered to the port in September 2020.

In a statement from SFT, it extended its appreciation to Grand Port Maritime de Marseille Fos for its trust in its expertise and wishes a successful operation on the new berth.

SFT has also supplied buoys and fenders to Port Charlottetown in Canada during its expansion. The expansion which valued a total of $12 million included the construction of four breasting dolphins, one additional cruise berth and an access gangway.
