P&O Ferrymasters, a provider of tailor-made transportation and logistics services, has taken occupation of a distribution centre space at DP London Gateway as part of its drive to increase trade connectivity across Europe.

According to a statement, the company has taken a five-year lease at the LG231 centre and will use it to build its port/market-centre distribution centre strategy using DP World’s smart logistics strategy.

The news follows the opening of another distribution centre in Rotterdam in 2019 and complements the company’s developments in Tilbury, a key hub of UK/Europe cargo trade.

Furthermore, the company was able to set up business immediately to manage and operate the new distribution centre, allowing it to meet increased market demand for warehouse and cross-dock activities at London Gateway.

LG231 is located at the heart of the Logistics Park and sits alongside DP World London Gateway Port, offering unique multimodal integration. It is Ferrymasters’ first facility in the UK supporting both imports and exports.

Additionally, London Gateway’s prime location just 10 miles from the M25 and 25 miles from Central London provides accessibility to one of Europe’s largest consumer markets.

“This additional new warehouse capacity at London Gateway marks an important additional step in our plans to enable trade flows across Europe,” said Mark Mulder, Director Contract Logistics, P&O Ferrymasters said.

“This new facility will provide the operational flexibility and capacity our customers need to ensure their supply chains are becoming even more efficient and effective with direct access to a central hub linking rail, road, deep sea and short sea.

“With both Rotterdam and London Gateway recently operational, we believe we are well positioned to provide resilient and agile supply chain solutions which have become more important than ever.”

Oliver Treneman, Park Development Director, DP World London Gateway, added: “We are excited that P&O Ferrymasters has become the first tenant of LG 231.

“We look forward to working with P&O to deliver innovative and flexible supply chain solutions which add value to our customers’ businesses.

“LG 231 is the ideal location for P&O Ferrymasters to grow over the long term as DP World London Gateway has the capacity, when complete, to be the largest integrated port and logistics park in Europe.

“Together we can offer unrivalled service for customers and possess the potential to radically impact the whole supply chain and enable the smarter flow of trade.”
