Global Container Terminals (GCT) USA has welcomed the Ocean Network Express’ (ONE) first magenta ship – the ONE Stork – at the GCT Bayonne terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The container ship arrived at Bayonne as part of the Transport High Efficiency (THE) Alliance’s EC4 Asia-North America all-water Suez service, which it joined after NYK Line, Mitsui OSK, and “K” Line merged in April 2018.

GCT Bayonne is the at the Port of New York and New Jersey’s, most technologically advanced terminal, and has won awards for high-marine and landside productivity.

Mark Sisson PE explains the importance of expanding automation for advanced terminals in a recent Port Technical technical paper

John Atkins, President of GCT USA, commented on the ONE Stork’s arrival: “Having served THE Alliance and its predecessors at each of our terminals on the East and West Coasts, our relationship with ONE runs deep.

“Supporting the seamless transition of 10,000 TEU vessels to 14,000 TEU vessels into service this year, we are pleased to be part of the enhanced service package that ONE and THE Alliance offer to its customers.”

Molly Campbell, Department Director of the New York and New Jersey Port Authority, also made a statement: “As the largest East Coast port, the arrival of ONE STORK represents the strong connectivity we have to Asia.”

As the first magenta vessel in the service’s EC4 East Asia-Southeast Asia-Suez-East Coast rotation, the ONE STORK will return every seven weeks to GCT Bayonne.

ONE is also celebrating the recent delivery of the ONE Minato, another magenta-coloured container ship capable of holding 14,000 TEU.

This vessel will also join the EC3 service under THE Alliance.
