ONE's giant 24,000 TEU boxship transits Suez Canal

Ocean Network Express (ONE) newest 24,000 TEU boxship, ONE Innovation, has entered the Suez Canal within the Southern Convoy.

According to recent social media posts from Suez Canel, the giant 24,000 boxship entered the canal on 2 July as part of the maiden voyage.

The ship flies the flag of the state of Liberia, coming from Singapore and heading to the Dutch port of Rotterdam, with a length of 399.9 meters, and a draft of 61.4 feet.

In early June, ONE announced that it had acquired its latest container ship, ONE Innovation, which was built at one of Japan’s 24,000 container class arsenals.

The company stressed that the ship’s capacity is 24,136 containers, with an innovative hull built to achieve economies of scale and greatly cut carbon emissions, intending to maximise cargo freight and reduce fuel usage.

ONE also emphasised that the ship is outfitted with energy-saving devices and an exhaust gas cleaning system to meet International Maritime Organization (IMO) emissions regulations, as well as being the first of six new Mega Mix ships to join the ONE fleet.

In June of this year, ONE introduced an upgrade of its Swedish Danish Service (SDS), where it will add a direct call to/from Halmstad, Sweden and Aalborg, Denmark.

That same month, ONE Innovation also arrived in Singapore.
