Large terminal operators want standardized systems in order to drive efficiencies, according to Chuck Schneider, Vice President and General Manager EMEA, Navis.

In an interview, part of Port Technology's AI and Automation series, Schneider revealed why operators are more likely to opt for off-the-shelf software instead of bespoke terminal operating systems (TOS).

Schneider said that customizable TOS packages would allow terminals to improve the quality of their customer service.

Navis, part of Cargotec Corporation, is a provider of operational technologies and services for organizations across the shipping supply chain.

Schneider stated: “Standardization means that quality is going to get better, you’re going to be able to standardize processes and, ultimately, it’s going to make terminals more efficient.”

Navis will be sharing more insights at Port Technology's Container Terminal Automation Conference on March 14 – 15, 2018, London, UK.
