MOL vessel conducts ship-to-ship LNG bunkering

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has announced that the LNG bunkering vessel Brassavola performed its first bunkering service for a LNG-fuelled bulk carrier at the Port of Singapore.

This vessel was built at Seatrium Limited (previously Sembcorp Maritime Ltd.) in Singapore and delivered in January of this year.

It is Singapore’s first membrane-type LNG bunkering vessel, complete with the highest technological specifications and environmental standards.

LNG as a ship’s fuel can reportedly reduce CO2 by 25 per cent to 30 per cent compared to heavy fuel oil and significantly reduce Sulphur oxides (SOx) and Nitrogen oxides (NOx).

MOL Group has three LNG bunkering vessels that supply LNG fuel to key bunkering ports across the world.

Recently, MOL announced the signing of a long-term charter contract with a vessel operation management firm funded by JERA Co., Inc. (JERA) for a newbuilding LNG carrier.
