MITSUI E&S lands record Vietnam crane order
MITSUI E&S has received an order from the Vietnamese state-backed operator PAP for 11 Ship to Shore Gantry Cranes (Mitsui-Paceco Portainer) and 11 eco-friendly Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (Mitsui-Paceco Transtainer).

With 13 cranes already in operation, this latest order brings MITSUI E&S’s total for Phuoc An Port to 56 units, boosting the terminal’s container handling capacity. This is the largest-ever crane procurement and order in Vietnam for both companies.

Phuoc An Port (PAP) is partnering with Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) to enhance southern Vietnam’s port connectivity.

Developed as Dong Nai’s first and largest container terminal, PAP welcomed its first Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) containership in February 2025.

The company has “delivered more than 170 units of container crane to Vietnam over the past 10 years, achieving the largest market share in Vietnam,” the company reported in a statement.

“And we will contribute to economic development through port infrastructure development to meet international marine logistics demand in Southeast Asian markets, including Vietnam, where strong demand for cranes is expected. Additionally, we will expand our port logistics system business in the global market.”

Earlier this year, MITSUI E&S Co., Ltd., together with Tomakomai Kuribayashi Transportation Co., Ltd. and Hino Motors, Ltd., conducted a demonstration experiment at Tomakomai International Container Terminal. This experiment reportedly took place from 11-13 January, under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s Port Technology Development Program, “Technical Development for Advanced Operation of Landing Trailers in Container Yards”.
