Malta Freeport Terminals has added two container services that offer routes from Malta to various European ports to its portfolio, including seven-day delivery to Felixstowe and Southampton in the UK.
According to Malta Freeport, the NC Levant Express, which is operated by shipping line CMA CGM and ONE and which already calls at the Freeport on its southbound route, now provides fast services to northern Europe, western Mediterranean, North Africa, and Adriatic Ports.
It will take seven days to arrive at Felixstowe, nine days to Hamburg, 13 days to Rotterdam, 14 days to Antwerp and 17 days to Le Havre.
The NC LEVANT port rotation on both southbound and northbound follows as: Felixstowe – Hamburg – Rotterdam – Antwerp – Le Havre – Malta Freeport – Alexandria – Damietta – Beirut – Iskenderun – Mersin – Malta Freeport – Tanger – Felixstowe.
The second service is the Europe Pakistan Indian Consortium (EPIC), which is operated by CMA CGM, COSCO, and OOCL, and is expected to start calling at the Freeport from next month.
The EPIC service will provide direct fixed-day weekly calls to the north European ports, according to Malta Freeport.
The port rotation will be as follows: Southampton – Rotterdam – Bremerhaven – Antwerp – Le Havre – Algeciras – Jeddah – Jebel Ali – Abu Dhabi – Karachi – Nhava Sheva – Mundra – Malta Freeport – Tanger Med – Southampton.
GSL CHATEAU DIF was the first CMA CGM containership to call at the Freeport on the Northbound call.

“We are delighted to offer these two new services to our clients which are fast and reliable as well as offering a wider range of import and export options for the local entrepreneurs,” stated Alex Montebello, CEO of Malta Freeport Terminals.
The two new services come almost a year after Malta Freeport Terminals and the Malta Dockers Union (MDU) signed an 11-year Service Level Agreement.
