Danish giant Maersk and German carrier Hapag-Lloyd have temporarily suspended all journeys through the Red Sea due to a series of recent attacks on vessels.
Maersk announced a pause in container shipments after a close call involving its Maersk Gibraltar ship, while Hapag-Lloyd decided to halt sailings at least until 18 December following an attack on one of its vessels, Reuters reported.
Concerns are rising about potential disruptions to global supply chains if these attacks persist.
Shipping industry expert, Lars Jensen, underscored the importance of shippers having contingency plans ready in response to the escalating situation in the Red Sea.
