Maersk Seafarer Goes Overboard in Quebec

A seafarer fell overboard from the Montreal-bound containership MAERSK PATRAS off Les Escoumins, Quebec, Canada, on the morning of May 19, 2019, according to reports.

Maritime Bulletin reports that the seafarer was either an Able Seaman or Second Officer, and fell while the vessel was taking a pilot on board.

A search and rescue operation was conducted but was suspended in the evening of May 19. The 2890 TEU vessel, which had arrived from Antwerp, resumed its voyage at approximately 7:45pm Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Maersk has confirmed the story to PTI and will release a formal statement shortly.
