Konecranes has received an order from the Eurotransit Group of Companies (Eurotransit) for two rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes for its new intermodal terminal under construction in Dostyk, Kazakhstan.
The two cranes ordered by the group have a rail span of 32m and will serve six train tracks, transshipping containers on trains running between Kazakhstan and China. The cranes will also utilise the Konecranes DGPS Skew Control System, and smart features including Auto-positioning and Auto TOS Reporting.
The order for the machinery was made in August 2021 and delivery is scheduled to be completed in Q4 of 2022.
“The Konecranes RMGs are central to our ambitious growth plans. We have very demanding environmental requirements – we often have to deal with strong winds and low temperatures. We also had very demanding requirements for container handling productivity and reliability. Konecranes convinced us with its reliable technology and service support,” said Erlan Dikhanbaev, Director of Eurotransit.
Konecranes has previously announced that it will also supply American terminal operator LOGSITEC USA Inc. with two new eco-efficient Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 Mobile Harbour cranes to help reduce its marine carbon footprint and enhance container handling at its container terminal in the Port of Manatee, located in Tampa Bay, Florida.
This order was also made in August 2021 and comes as the terminal anticipates increasing levels of traffic. Delivery is scheduled to be completed by February 2022.
