King Abdulaziz Port Dammam

King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam has ended 2022 with the highest annual container figures on record, handling a total of 2,038,787 TEU.

The figure represents a 15 per cent growth compared to 1,780,348 TEU registered in 2021.

The strong performance coincides with the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI)’s objective to transform the port into a world-class logistics hub for global trade.

MAWANI and MEDLOG, the logistics arm of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), recently signed an agreement to establish the first-ever integrated logistics park and re-export zone at Dammam’s King Abdulaziz Port.

The investment value will exceed 100 million Riyals ($27 million).

The Dammam-based port is the nation’s foremost trade hub on the Arabian Gulf coast as well as the leading port of entry into the Eastern and Central Regions.

The port features 43 fully-equipped berths, purpose-built terminals, and state-of-the-art equipment capable of receiving giant vessels and processing 105 million tons of cargo and containers.

MAWANI just reported that Saudi Ports experienced a 13 per cent increase in cargo throughput in 2022, handling roughly 237 million tonnes compared to 210 million tonnes in 2021.
