Kattupalli Port receives sustainability award

Marine Infrastructure Developer Private Limited (MIDPL) of Kattupalli Port, part of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), has been awarded the Platinum award in the ‘Sustainable’ category at the 12th APEX Greenleaf Awards and Conference on SH&E and Expo.

MIDPL received the award for achievements in its initiatives towards combating climate change through reduction in carbon emission, energy conservation measures, energy efficiency projects, water conservation, and biodiversity preservation.

Some of the key projects and initiatives of MIDPL include a complete replacement of 51 diesel-operated ITVs to e-ITVs which led to a reduction in carbon emission, effective waste management practices and reuse of waste for beneficial use, and renewable energy installation.

Kattupalli in Tamil Nadu is a multi-cargo port with a vast infrastructure. With deep draft berths and multipurpose terminals, the port efficiently handles the largest bulk carriers in the world, according to Adani Ports.

Earlier this month, Adani Ports announced that it handled 8.6 million TEU from April 2022 to March 2023, reflecting a 5 per cent year-on-year increase.
