Jurong port appoints new CEO

Jurong Port, a subsidiary of JTC Corporation, has announced the appointment of Terence Seow as CEO.

Seow assumed the role on 1 September succeeding Ooi Boon Hoe, who will step in as as Advisor until 31 December.

Seow has more than 25 years of experience in the public sector. He has previously served as Assistant CEO of JTC and Chief Digital Officer.

In this role Seow was instrumental in driving the successful transfer of the Housing Development Board (HDB) industrial property portfolio to JTC and guiding the digital transformation of the company.

Former CEO Ooi Boon Hoe was appointed in 2014.

JCT said he was “pivotal in shaping Jurong Port’s vision as a Next-Generation Multipurpose Port (NGMPP) and led the transformation that saw Jurong Port transition successfully from landlord to operator, bringing forth improvements in many aspects of its waterfront operations, workplace health and safety, digitalisation, business diversification, and sustainability.”

Last month, Jurong Port, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Asia Pacific (MHI-AP) and JERA Asia concluded a deal to explore building an ammonia direct combustion power plant on Jurong Island, Singapore.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), a joint study will be conducted, where a 60MW class gas turbine combined cycle plant fuelled by 100 per cent ammonia is planned to be set up to produce carbon-neutral electricity.
