Batumi International Container Terminal (BICT), a business unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) at the Port of Batumi in Georgia, has announced that it will begin offering customers enhanced connectivity to North Africa and Spain.
The new route will be established in mid-April via Mediterranean Shipping Company’s (MSC) improved Batumi-Gioia Tauro service, with weekly calls to and from Batumi with a revised rotation that includes more direct ports and shorter transit times.
The service will sail through the following ports: Tekirdağ, Derince, Aliaga, Marsaxlokk, Algiers, Casablanca, Sines, Valencia, Gioia Tauro, Burgas and Batumi.

Nikoloz Gogoli, BICT Chief Executive Officer, said: “MSC’s enhanced service can help boost Georgia’s foreign trade by establishing a direct link with North Africa, Portugal and Spain.
“The addition of direct ports gives businesses access to more locations, opening new trade routes and providing more options for shipping goods between Batumi and Gioia Tauro.”
